“Nocturnes” reflect a profound awareness of the brevity of life. Coloured grounds add the tonalities of dusk and dawn to the work, bringing a sense of weight and suspension. The river remains, but altered—held at the edge of night, and day where forms soften and distinctions blur. Within this dimming light, perception sharpens. What is fleeting becomes luminous. What is passing becomes more fully present.
